Power Breakfast

Our morning routine:  I sit at the kitchen counter with my coffee and the paper.  My wife sits in the family room with her coffee and the Today show.

The twain rarely meet until we’re coherent, but the other morning I vaguely heard the words “honey,” “crunch,” and “cereal,” and some familiar music.

And then it dawned on me.

“That song is being used in a cereal commercial?”

“Yeah, can you believe it?”

The song is called, “More, More, More.”  It was a disco hit in 1976 for Andrea True.  She was a porn star at the time.  And she wasn’t singing for another bowl of cereal.

    “Familiar music”, huh Gerry? 😉

It amazes me what music gets used for commercials- like the cruise line which used Iggy Pop’s “Lust for Life.” My bet is the people at the cruise line didn’t read the lyrics for that song before giving it the green light.
Personally, I like the way this one was done, for “The Green Police”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wq58zS4_jvM

I had the same thought about “Lust for Life” when those ads first started running. Hadn’t seen “The Green Police” but I like it!

Gerry—the video even looks like cleaned up porn. How did it get by the 70s’ censors? Today, it’s pretty tame compared to other stuff on mainstream tv and radio.

    Hi Gerry,
Oh yes, I can remember that song, it’s been years since I heard it. I just couldn’t imagine this song in a cereal commercial. 😆

Strange timing: Andrea True died November 7, 2011. She lived in Woodstock, NY.
