A Plan Comes Together

“You guys turn 60 next year.  Why don’t we all go to Pebble Beach so we can celebrate and you can play together?”

So said my old friend Chuck’s wife Susan, as we sat on our patio in June, 2011.  Chuck and I had been talking about our shared experience playing Pebble.  We had both played as singles.  And when our playing partners left, there was no one to sit down with and replay every shot over beverages.  That is a much bigger part of the experience than you might think.

I remember getting back to our room in 1995.

“How was it?”

“Fine.”

“You just played Pebble Beach, and all you can say is ‘Fine’?”

“Well, you weren’t there.”

Chuck’s experience was similar.  That’s why when we tee it up together at Pebble on Monday, two old Framingham buddies will be 60-going-on-12.

Can’t wait.

A warmup round Friday at Poppy Hills G.C.

Thanks Bob. I am! The real golf portion of the trip begins today. Spyglass, Pebble, Spanish Bay. Got a $55 deal last Friday at Poppy Hills. golfnow.com worked quite well. The weather has been unbelieveable. You know how finicky the Bay Area and Monterrey Pen9insula can be. We’ve been very lucky.
