For those too young to remember, this “song” was actually a hit in 1966.
The chorus is for those of us with symptoms of shovelitis.

I want to know when they are coming to take me away! I hope it’s to a warm, sunny, place on the water. I’ve packed and am ready to go! Thanks for the reminder that they’re coming, Gerry. 🙂
I was in a warm, sunny place for about 5 minutes this afternoon. Then I stopped daydreaming.
A welcome tune from antiquity.
Perhaps you recall, as I do, the criticism and ultimate banishment from many radio stations that this oeuvre suffered at the very dawn of our modern, hypersensitive age. I thought I’d never hear it again.
Thanks.
I do, and I hope everyone will take it as intended under the current circumstances. And those who don’t are reading the wrong blog.
Well doesn’t that sum up what winter has done to us, haha. I’m afraid I’ll be singing that while shoveling until lets say Memorial day………. Thanks for keeping us entertained Gerry.
Nothing like a Memorial Day snowball fight by the pool.
Ok, Gerry, let me know when your flight comes into Phoenix. !!! I won’t say a word, your room and bath is ready and 70 degrees here on Sunday!!
(That was a good laugh-sorry)
Should I check the local TV stations and see if there are any openings?!
Hmmmm….
Well, that was a trip down memory lane. A very narrow, poorly plowed memory lane.
How about some Mungo, Gerry?
Not right now, but maybe in the summertime when the weather is hot.
Kathy, that made me and the husband LOL. 🙂 Gerry, I went into Kohl’s on Thursday and said to a check out clerk that they should have a ‘get the hell out of the house’ sale. That’s why I was there…though I spent enough that no one would guess.
Just got up…went out to get the paper…tiny particles of something falling from the sky again. Is it 5 o’clock somewhere?
I went through particles falling on my windshield on my way to the book store this morning. I am now positive it’s 5 o’clock somewhere.
Hi Gerry,
I remember this song, kids at school were always singing it, of course all you would hear was “They are coming to take me away ha ha” I think they were the only words anyone really remembered at school. 🙂
Here where I live it’s 32C which is around 90F it’s still a bit cooler than our normal summer, but high humidity, and the usual storm coming up. So I wouldn’t mind a little bit of time in the snow to cool off, and I’m sure you wouldn’t mind a bit of summer at the moment. 🙂
You got that right Maggie! Tonight we have rain and ice. Just what we need.
