Promises, Promises

I subscribe to Golf and Golf Digest.

With every cover of every issue, I’m willing to suspend disbelief.  Maybe I can add 20 yards with the swing I have now!  Maybe I can buy a better game!  Maybe I’ll be able to hit it 300 yards when I’m 75 years old (if I’m standing on the edge of a 300-foot cliff.)

But with the new issue of Golf, I’ve discovered my limit.

I can look like Camilo Villegas?  Really???

You see those forearms?  You see that waist?

No, I cannot look like Camilo Villegas.  Not in this lifetime, anyway.  I could work out religiously every day and count every last calorie that I consume.  And I will still never look like Camilo Villegas.

Now, about adding those 20 yards…

About Gerry

I've been covering Connecticut news and sports since 1974. I know, I don't look that old.

  1. 3o minute fitting??

Does that mean if I rant, rave, speak in tongues run amok and pitch a fit for half an hour every day I’ll be able to hit the ball further? And look like this guy?

    Gotta go…

for my naked run through the neighborhood

He looks angry Gerry, you never look angry at work. We love you just the way you are.

  3. Kevin says:

I’m 6 weeks into my Craig Stadler workout and I’m getting good results, take it from me, it’s a game changer.

  4. Steve L says:

So he’s younger, in better shape, & can hit a golf ball farther than you. If you keep repeating in your head that, “Age & Treachery beat Youth & Skill”, you’ll be alright.
Still can’t see that “J” in Villegas!

  5. Gerry says:

Kevin, been the Craig Stadler route…
Steve, that invisible “J” always gets me.

  6. And then there’s those of us who mistakenly see “J’s” when we should be seeing “G’s”… check my post Gerr… I’m attempting to win you back 😉 KLM

I’ve added a link to Kerri-Lee’s blog on the front page. If you haven’t “met” her yet, she’s NBC CT’s newest anchor. And now she knows how to spell my name!
