And wash off this long, often dirty, political season.
A couple of random thoughts on the races for Senate and governor. The big names with big money ran. But when we had the first gubernatorial debates on NBC Connecticut in June and July, the candidates who stood out to me were the little names with little money from little towns.
Both are first selectmen. Rudy Marconi is a Democrat from Ridgefield and Tom Marsh is a Republican from Chester. (Marsh continued his run as an independent.) They never had a chance. But I hope we hear from them again.
And then there’s Linda McMahon. It’s not easy to comprehend that she spent upwards of 50-million dollars for a $174,000 job. Actually, it’s freakin’ impossible to comprehend. But those much smarter than me in matters such as this say she’s made a handsome down payment on her political future.
As a good friend likes to say, “Wow, wow, wow.”
