Live Television

Twitter’s fine, Facebook’s dandy, thanks for reading this blog, and we appreciate your patronage at our website, NBC Connecticut.com.

But as the first miner rose from the abyss in Chile Tuesday night, it reminded me what I love most about what I do.  Throw out the scripts, and watch history as it happens.  With you.  And add information and insight when appropriate.

When appropriate?  You bet.  Because the pictures and sound from the scene told the story as Florencio Avalos surfaced.  This is the video and the sound from Chilean TV.

If you were choked up watching that little boy anticipating seeing his dad for the first time in more than two months, rest assured, so were we.

Good news, no, great news, on live television.

Tweet that.

  1. You’re right, Gerry. The pictures tell the story. Thank goodness Geraldo isn’t covering this one. Or one of his ilk. This story is going to unfold all day. I’ll be watching later today.

  2. Mary says:

Couldn’t have said it better Gerry, it’s good to see something so wonderful in between all the political crap.

  3. Gerry says:

It really is thrilling to report good news as it unfolds, and take a break from, as Mary says, the crap, political or otherwise.

  4. Kathryn D. says:

Sincerely enjoyed the live coverage last night!

  5. Li'l Em-Kel says:

We need more like ya, Ger.

  6. Jim says:

And that is why I did for 36 years, and so will you my friend…so will you.

  7. Herb says:

You can see it in their faces, Ger – Life is really worth living after all! Everyday brings a new joy!

  8. Li'l Em-Kel says:

Am I the only one to notice that all these guys had nicely cut hair when they surfaced? One of them must have been a pretty good barber.
