El Parque del Amor

Meanwhile, back in Lima…

Lima is a city like any other and unlike any other.  The 9-million people who live in and around the city make up a third of Peru’s population.

Lima has its rich and its poor.  Its good neighborhoods and bad.

But it also has many parks.  One of which was dedicated on February 14, 1993.  Parque del Amor (Love Park) sits high atop the Pacific Ocean.  It features an outstanding, outrageous sculpture by Victor Delfin, and walls of ceramic mosaics.

Yup, it's as big as it looks.

The other side.

Set high on a cliff over the Pacific.

The Peruvian Peacock?

And the very best thing about spending time in El Parque del Amor? You feel so very lucky to be there.  And so very alive.

Nothing inspires a monument like a good conquest.

It’s like you never left NBC, the peacock is everywhere. That couple sure is large, but I guess love should tower over everything. The toes……… not so much.
