“…he is one of the best human beings you’ll ever meet.” (Nick Cafardo, Boston Globe)
The Globe’s veteran Red Sox reporter is referring to Dave Roberts. You remember Dave. A west coast guy who came east for a cup of coffee with the Red Sox in 2004. He stole a base and stole our hearts. And then he went back home.
Now Dave Roberts, just 37 years old, has cancer. His spirits are high, and he calls his prognosis “very positive.”
Cafardo says he’s been inundated with requests from Red Sox fans who want to send Roberts a message. If you’re interested in wishing Dave Roberts well (or just a baseball fan who appreciates a good guy), here are the addresses he got:
drroberts@Padres.com or you can send an old-fashioned get well card to: Dave Roberts, San Diego Padres, Petco Park, 100 Park Blvd., San Diego, Ca. 92101.
