So how about a good weekend song? Enjoy. (Click on video, then ‘Watch on YouTube.’)
Great song. And another great one on the B side of the 45. Fortunate Son.
Can you have two A sides? Boy CCR really cranked out the hits for a while.
Fogarty’s still going strong. I need to do some research on why this California boy got so into bayou stories that could have been told on a stoop in a parish in James Lee Burke country.
CCR. The Doors. Jefferson Airplane. Grand Funk Railroad. Soundtrack of my four years in the service way back then.
I guess we all have Greatest Hits albums of our lives. Nothing like a song to recall a time and a place.
Friday night is Beer Night at my house (and what a night it is!) and I generally delve deep into my pre-1964 graveyard of tunes to soothe my booze-smoothed brain. CCR is one of the rare latter day exceptions I allow into my comfortable reverie. Fogerty was a true rocker.
(Can you spot the really cool assonance in this note?)
Heading out. Be joining you in a cold one in 25 minutes.
” soothe my booze-smoothed brain? ”
Isn’t that a line from John Lee Hooker’s ” House Rent Blues: One Bourbon, one scotch, one beer? ”
Which George Thorogood covered nicely.
Li’l em kel – Born to be bad assonance
One of my all time favorite bands! Great post Gerry!
