Precious is in the Eye of the Beholder

No doubt many of us who tuned into NESN for the Sunday night opener loved Joshua Sacco.  He’s the five-year-old kid from Tennessee who recited Herb Brooks’s pre-game speech to his 1980 “Miracle on Ice” Olympic hockey team.

And no doubt many of us did not love Joshua Sacco.

You can count me among the latter.

Judging from the looks on some of the Sox players’ faces, this brat’s act didn’t go over too well. If they were hoping to hit one out of the park last night, this kid might just be the one.

    Whose idea was this?

    • Gerry says:

Apparently the kid was some kind of YouTube hit. All I know is if I have a 5-year-old in my face, he gets banished to somewhere I’m not.

  2. Bob Porrazzo says:

Jerry as far as I am concerned, as someone who is a semi-fan of the Miracle on Ice and having the wonderful film Miracle on DVD…WHAT THE RED SOX P-R DEPARTMENT DID WAS BLASPHEMY! BROOKS IS ROLLING IN HIS GRAVE!

  3. Terry says:

    That was DUMB!

  4. Kevin says:

I’m gonna be kind here and say I wasnt a fan of the creepy Fios kid or the tired ,played out evil empire theme. This little nugget was clearly contrived by management for the Pink Hat wing of the party.

  5. Kevin says:

Schoenweiss probably thought the kid was Justin Bieber

  6. t bone says:

The kid sucked and so did the fans giving the bird to the yankees outfielder…pure class. And I am a Red Sox fan.

  7. richb says:

Lots of enthusiasm in Joe Castiglione’s voice at the end of the performance…guess he was as underwhelmed as the rest of us at this “inspirational moment.” Probably embarrassed as well.
