Walking out to get the paper this morning, I resisted the temptation. Again.
There is still a little bit of snow and ice scattered about on the driveway. Nothing to slip on. Nothing you’d really notice. But I do.
I know it stems from childhood. Maybe I should have gotten help then. I had to get every last flake of snow or speck of ice off the driveway. It’s not as if I was ordered to. I just had to.
It got worse when I became a homeowner, and had a short, sloping driveway. I was maniacal to the point where people would ask, “Hey, you got one of those heated driveways? It’s spotless!”
Now we have a flat driveway. I promised myself when we moved that I’d get over this snow removal obsession. I’m trying. I’m storm-to-storm, day-to-day.
Really, what’s left is insignificant. To you.
Temptation. Resisting. So hard.
Let me tell you, being the victim of an icy patch landing me in the land of casts your shoveling is not only admirable but should be tagged onto ever insurance policy.
Yeah, it’s not me I worry about.
My theory, now that I don’t HAVE to be anywhere is: God put it there, God can take it away. Life is far too short to shovel snow.

Someday.
I think you need to get a hobby…or you can come to my house & keep the driveway clean…
I put up warning signs.
You’ll get there, but then, it’s better to go where there’s no snow.
Someday.
I’m with you on this Gerry. I can’t help myself, I have to do something to the snow, no matter how little there is. Someone needs to give this a syndrome name.
Well I’ve resisted comments before, but the snow removal put me over the edge. I too have snow removal issues, really not sure where or when they started but until every spec is shoveled or melted if the girls have driven prior to me getting out there. When I hear the plow I’m out there clearing the end of the drive before it hardens, usually anywhere from 1-5 in the AM, makes getting up for work interesting. Thanks for all the smiles your blog has given me.
Mary
Thanks to all for your comments. And Ralph and Mary, I hope to hear from you again. Welcome!
So, are you just anal about snow or other things? I have alot of things I’m anal about and I want to stop… well to a certain degree. I want to lighten the mood behind it all. 😛 Erg!
