Raymond Elmer Dobratz. What a strong name. What a great union name. (Jeff Jacobs, Hartford Courant)

You probably know Jeff Jacobs as the Hartford Courant’s sports columnist.

He’s very good at writing about games and the people who play and coach them.  But today, as he often does, he went beyond the games to remember one of the men who lost their lives in the Middletown explosion.

And he reminded me what a fine writer he is.

  1. You’re right. That’s good. Reminded me of Red Smith’s book: ” To Absent Friends. ” A collection of essays about Red’s collection of friends who died. Sad story out of Middletown. Nice post Anchor Man.
