An Honorable Act

From the “In Case You Missed It” Department (and it would have been easy to)…

Lou DiBella

Lou DiBella is the guy who tried to make a go of Double-A baseball at Dodd Stadium in Norwich.  He recently sold the Connecticut Defenders franchise to a group in Richmond, VA.

DiBella is better known as a promoter in general, and a boxing promoter specifically.  He also just demonstrated that there can be honor in boxing.  He resigned as former middleweight champion Jermain Taylor‘s promoter, because he doesn’t want to be around when Taylor gets his brains beaten out.  Literally.

Taylor goes down at Foxwoods in April, 2009.

Taylor is apparently one of those boxers who can’t walk away for the sake of his health.  Not when there’s money on the table.  He’s lost 4 of his last 5 fights, 3 of them badly.  So DiBella walked away from him.

Honor in boxing.  How about that?
