First I heard it from a lunch companion. Then I saw an item on our news. Then I read it in the Courant.
Adam Rich, in better days.
Apparently, some dude named Adam Richman hosts a show on the Travel Channel called “Man v. Food.” I’ve heard of the show, but that’s about it. I didn’t know if it was on the Travel Channel, the Food Channel, or the Discovery Channel. I’d never heard of Adam Richman. The Adam Richman, not to be confused with Adam Rich, the once-upon-a-time adorable child actor on “Eight Is Enough” turned into a drug-and-booze-aholic.
The Adam Richman came to the Greater Hartford area to stick some giant hot dogs down his throat for his show. When I saw the blip of a story on our late news, I wondered why we didn’t see or hear from him. Then I saw this in the Courant:
“I am not allowed to do interviews unless they have been approved by the production company” was his terse response when Java approached, hoping for a quick comment…”
That verbiage is the equivalent of what’s inside a really cheap hot dog. And the Adam Richman is what passes for “celebrity” today.
Get over yourself, pal.

No kidding! Good call on that one, Gerry..his head gets bigger every show..so I stopped watching.
Now Anthony Bourdain is awesome. Dryest sense of humor and has great shows..check his show out sometime!

Do you watch Top Chef on Bravo? It’s on Wednesdays just before your late newscast, but Bravo reruns the episodes during the week and on weekends at various hours. I am a person with absolutely no cooking skills, but I really enjoy this show. Tom Colicchio is a great host and producer (he has a restaurant in MGM Grand at Foxwoods that I’ve heard is great). He also has a blog on Top Chef’s website that is a very entertaining and interesting read. The show really is a great showcase of the chefs’ world and what it takes to be a great chef. Each show has a guest judge that is usually an established chef and Anthony Bourdain has been on several times.
I can’t say that I do, Linda. But I do know of Colicchio, and I’ll bet he’d have a word or two for the local media as opposed to standing off by himself playing with his Blackberry.
