The Pistachio People

David Letterman’s blackmail scandal is good for business.   His, and pistachio nut farmers.

Seems the pistachio nut industry started its first-ever television advertising campaign Monday, and bought time on Letterman and Monday Night Football.

So what did the pistachio people get for their money?  Letterman’s ratings gone through the roof because of, you know…and the Vikings-Packers game, which turned out to be the most-watched sports event in cable TV history.

Hey, timing really is everything.

I’m just trying to figure out what’s weirder, the whole Letterman thing, or the pistachio people using, among others, Levi Johnston as one of their spokespeople.  Yeah, that Levi Johnston, Bristol Palin’s baby daddy.

“This is gravy for us,” Dominic Engels, vice president for marketing at pistachio maker Paramount Farms told the AP.

No, Dom.  It’s nuts.

  1. My favorite part of the game was the half-time show in which Bret Favre admitted to having ” hands on relationships ” with several members of the Vikings physical therapy staff.
