The Name Is Bond…

The country “is tired of partisanship infecting every debate. The country is tired of every action by the Congress becoming a political battle.”   —Sen. Christopher (Kit) Bond (R-MO), announcing his support for U.S. Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor.

Maybe it’s easy for Bond to say, because he’s retiring from the Senate.  And please, forget the issue (Sotomayor) that inspired his observation.  Let’s take his thought and spread it around to every pressing issue we face as a nation.

Healthy debate makes America a better country.  But partisanship for its own sake is poison.  I fear the country is slowly being poisoned, and the media (old and new) bears some responsibility.

I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t think so.

Lets do this again, and get it right.

Sadly, you’re not wrong. This country is being poisoned by those who choose to blindly follow their own beliefs and those who parrot their beliefs, never giving consideration to the fact that perhaps the arguments of the other side may be worth some consideration. It’s happening in the media, on the streets, everywhere, and it’s going to get worse before it gets better.

But on a lighter note…Kit Bond is officially the coolest name I’ve heard today.
