It’s time to move into that nice new building we’ve been touting on the air for the past few weeks.
This week NBC 30 becomes NBC Connecticut HD. A lot of work has gone into the new place, which is about 15 feet behind the old building. A lot of work has gone into getting ready to go on the air from there.
The old brick shi building has been my broadcast home for going on 16 years (and a couple of years in the 70s, too). A lot of wonderful people have passed though its doors.
So will it be difficult to say goodbye?
Oh hell, no! Are you kidding? But there are some good stories to be told from within those walls, and maybe we’ll get around to one or two of them this week.
Stay tuned!
I got a good laugh at the beginning of the 3rd paragraph… enjoy the new digs, Gerry!
Yeah, the S. in Gerald S. Brooks stands for “subtle.”
it was never the same after they removed the “employee of the month” parking spot.
Saw the new promo last night…best of luck in the new building! I will be looking for complexion changes in HD!!!
Keep up the great work.
Good luck in your new location, Gerry. Was in the old brick shi******* years ago. Did some post production work on a TV spot we were working on. New digs will be nice, I’m sure. Enjoy it.
So…
When’s the Blogger’s Tour?
I volunteer to swing a sledgehammer at the old brick monstrosity, though I doubt I’ll be first in line. Great memories, awful memories, and just memories. Hard to think of NBC30 without that place.
Best of luck to you and the gang in the new digs. It’s a well-deserved step up!
At the new place, will the private hair/makeup/dressing room with the fancy lighted mirror and the big “GB” on the door be similar to the old one, or even bigger?
(insert smiley face here)
Actually, Ms. McD, the new place has two makeup rooms.
I hope those who will want to see the new place get a chance. I’ll let you know if there’s going to be any kind of event.
I can’t believe they knocked down the weather hut! That has to return, although in HD you’d be able to see the empties and bottle caps stashed in the plants!
Hey Gerry – Out of couriosity, what will become of the old building, will it still be used for something else or is it slated to be demolished to give everyone there a proper parking lot?
Geoff, they’re gonna recycle as much of the old building as possible, then raze the rest and put in the parking lot. And it can’t happen soon enough.
