Letterman Vs. Palin

So Sarah Palin has accepted David Letterman’s apology, and if there is a god in heaven, it’s over.

What amazes me is all the time and energy spent debating, dissing, slicing, dicing and vetting an admittedly bad joke and a response that may or may not have been calculated.

In other words, it turned into hours of cable programming.

In the end, all that needed to be said was this observation from Palin, as reported by the A.P:

Palin said Tuesday that Letterman has the right to joke about whatever he wants to, and “thankfully we have the right to express our reaction.”

And that’s what it’s all about.  Finis.

  1. Amen Gerry!

A week of news about jokes???!!!

Remember when Anna Nicole hit the dirt?
There was more coverage of that than the JFK assassination.

    Please, save us from ourselves.

  2. Kathy S. says:

Agreed, it should have ended there. But all the hoopla will be held against her, wanna betcha she will be blamed for blowing it out of proportion. Even if she had no part of dragging it on. The news is turning into a large rag mag.

  3. Walter Winchell is spinning in his grave. Ed Sullivan is laughing. Gossip columnists. We don’t hear that term anymore. Because the kind of people gossip columnists used to write about are now doing it on their own.

Palin saw her opportunity and took it. Who cares if her daughter gets dragged into the muck? It’s all about Sarah. The more attention she gets…

And Letterman’s no Betterman. He knows his ” apology ” will get him tons of free media. Which he needs. With Leno getting all the attention lately.

Palin. Letterman. These are awful people. I try not to pay attention. Not easy.

  4. Graham says:

With all this “late -night” garbage, I’ll be turning in at 10 pm beginning this fall.
I can’t stand Letterman, Conan or Leno!
    Too much about nothing!!!

Gerry, in September can you report the 11 pm news at 9:30 so we can avoid these late night idiots?

  5. Gerry says:

Graham, if you happen to be up at 11, we’d love to have your business.

  6. Kathy S. says:

    Gerry,

During the election coverage I switched over to the ‘other’ news network. Funny always considered myself a diehard democrat. Your news at 11 is the only show I watch back on the ‘previous’ side.

  7. Gerry says:

    Thank you, Kathy. Much appreciated.
