Do Not Do This Again. Ever.

The Red Sox “celebrated” Earth Day by wearing their St. Patrick’s Day uniforms.  They put a recycling patch on one sleeve, and a shamrock on the other.  (At first, I thought they were saluting the Celtics.)

I’m all for Earth Day, but the Sox took baseball’s best looking home uni (along with the Yankees and Dodgers), and turned it butt ugly.

Memo to Larry Lucchino:  red and green go together on Christmas, and Christmas only.

Although they did sweep the doubleheader…

  1. Couldn’t agree more. Astroturf. Designated hitter rule. Cookie cutter ballparks with names like Bailed Out Bank Field. Now this.

  2. Mel says:

It doesn’t matter what they wear as long as they win!

  3. Tight red dresses and sling back pumps? Let’s nip this Uniform du jour thing in the bud. Before it gets to that. ( Although Ellsbury would look marvelous, I’m sure. )

  4. Graham says:

Those uniforms were an assult on the senses. Thanks Gerry, what a way to start my day. I’m going to need more than coffee to get that image out of my mind!

  5. Stephanie says:

I had the pleasure to attend the game. They do not belong in green. They looked weird on the field. The money that they spent on the making the changes to the uniforms they could have donated it to have trees planted!!!!!

  6. Gerry says:

OK, nearly unanimous. (Terry, you been inhaling the smoke from that fire?)

  7. No smoke today so far. Coast is clear. Stay tuned.

  8. And a correction.I didn’t mean Ellsbury re the sling back pumps.

    Yankee: Nick Swisher.
