We Still Matter? Gee, Thanks.

It has finally dawned on the geniuses on Madison Avenue, and in the sales departments of television and cable networks that there is life beyond the 18-49 demographic.   Even beyond 18-54!!!

The boomers offer advertisers “an audience — and here’s your quotable quote — that has assets, not allowances,” said Henry Schleiff, president and chief executive at Hallmark Channels, composed of the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel cable TV networks.  (New York Times)

Thanks for the quotable quote.  And here’s another, not as alliterative, but more succinct:  Boomers are better than ever, still kicking ass and taking names

I fell out of the “key demos” that I’m supposed to appeal to a couple of years ago.  What a crock.  I am better than ever (minus the afro and fu manchu), and I have more money to spend than ever (til further notice).

You want my money?  Pitch me.  Love me.  

Otherwise, I’ll be happy to spend it elsewhere.

  1. I think they are out to get us BBs. Half the spots I see have 35,40 year old rock songs playing over them ( Or is it under them? )
