The Philadelphia newspapers have joined the parent company of the New Haven Register in declaring bankruptcy.

Who and what will fill the void when (sadly, not “if”) hard copy newspapers go away?

That was the line of thinking behind the creation of the new web sites of the NBC-owned television stations.  You know, the web site you probably found this blog on.   And it appears ESPN has taken notice.   The “Worldwide Leader” is going local.

Two questions:  Is anybody making money off their web sites?  (Yes folks, it’s a business.)  And would anyone pay a subscription fee to see them?  (That didn’t work out so well for the New York Times, and I refuse to be an ESPN “Insider.”)

Welcome to the revolution.
