I don’t know Jeanne Leblanc at the Hartford Courant. I think I may have seen her byline only once. But if you like to travel, you should check out her blog, “Coach Class.” She does a really nice job keeping up with useful travel news.
I’ve been meaning to point this out, because those of us who like to travel need all the help we can get these days (yes, even those of us who “married into” the travel business).
But Jeanne’s latest post hits home. The Dearly Beloved doesn’t work for US Airways, but she does toil for another major airline. With the pilots tucked away in the cockpit, the flight attendants are on the front line of every flight.
They’re the targets for every passenger unhappy with what they paid for everything that used to be free (though, of course, nothing was/is ever free). They’re the ones who get bitched out for late departures, late arrivals, missed connections, and any other perceived slight.
As Jeanne points out, it’s not their fault.
Give ‘em a break. Please. (And thank you!)

I entirely agree. As a frequent flyer myself I would forgive the stewardess every time. And, this might explain why:

Middle Man checks in from the U.K. and offers a different perspective that you’ll find interesting/entertaining if you have a few moments.
One bit of friendly advice, M.M.: stick with the term “flight attendants.” And, by the way, I love your part of the world. We’ve been there several times. If only it were affordable now.
